MG Gundam NT-1 “ALEX” 2.0

I’m trying to get back into a bit of a photography groove so I’m going back and visiting my backlog of kits that I’ve built but never catalogued. This time I’m doing the NT-1 that I finished late 2019.

This is a bit of a cursed kit for me, when I first built it I lost the little blue part which goes on the V-fin and needed to buy a spare kit for a replacement. Now having actually had a chance to play around with it, I can say that I don’t really like it all that much. The proportions are a bit too oldschool for me and the kit can look very unflattering at quite a few angles. This particular design is probably more suited to having the Chobham Armor equipped.

I also didn’t have a good experience trying to pose it, the wrists are pretty tight and I can see why some people have broken them. Despite being blocky, the kit has a surprisingly good ab-crunch which pretty much saved the whole photoshoot for me. Still I only managed to get about 2-3 poses off before I stopped in frustration.

Painting

It’s been about two years since I painted this build so colours are a rough guess.

white – Base coat Mr Color 306 Grey FS. Mr Color GX Cool white used for highlight.

Blue – Gaianotes Cobalt Blue + bit of Mr Color Fluro pink. White added for shading.

Red – Shine Red base coat, bit of yellow and white added for highlights.

Yellow – Base coat of orange, white base highlight, then a coat of Orange Yellow (80%)+ Yellow (20%). White added for highlight.
